I’m never going to be (more accurately, never was) one of those twenty-something yoginis who can do full standing splits on top of the Eiffel Tower (or a handstand on a rock in the middle of the ocean… honestly, have you seen some of those yoga poses on Instagram???) But, I wanted to have some fun with yoga poses and photography and so, with a little help from Picmonkey (which, btw, is a very fun way to spend an evening playing around with your mediocre images and seeing what can be made of them…) I took a series of photos in my very boring living room. Here’s Crane Pose if I were able to clone myself and time everything perfectly (sort of like a partner yoga solo selfie)… Maybe I should keep experimenting with the photo editing and just insert myself into some awe-inspiring locations…

Some time later I had pressed an awful lot of buttons and played with way too many filters and experimented with banners and textures and overlays and who knows what else… Even the freebie version is lots of fun and the premium version isn’t that expensive, so if I find myself spending lots more time over there, I’ll subscribe…
So, you can thank Jim at JAR blog for today’s batty post, though it did start out legitimately enough as the view from my new desk location (I managed to reorganize myself enough to get the desk out of the bedroom). This version of the photo is obviously tweaked beyond recognition, but funnily enough, picmonkey doesn’t offer a herd of flying turkeys in their standard overlays.
I confess I’m quite looking forward to tweaking a few family photos with the zombie options…
All day long I’ve been dithering… there is stuff going on at the farm (there is always stuff going on at the farm) and this is technically a farm blog so I’m sure I could come up with a suitably farm-y topic. But I’ve also been having a lot of fun playing with some of those photos I took up in Kelowna (which is definitely not on the farm).
But neither was taken here… and really, they are as much about fooling around with some basic photo editing techniques I don’t generally bother with as they are about any particular topic…
So, my question is this: Does it matter? Does a blog with the name “Dark Creek Farm” always have to be about the farm? Should I start a different blog for stuff like this? (I see lots of people who seem to maintain multiple blogs… to me, this seems like some kind of insanity, but if people get annoyed because they come here expecting to see frozen water buckets, I don’t want to be too irritating…) Should I force my creative powers to somehow relate creepy red skies and frosty winter scenes from my travels to relate back to my life here at the homestead? (I was, technically, digesting a home-grown turkey while I was out on that photo walk…) What is the protocol? Or are we inventing protocol as we go along?
Given this is the first day of a brand spanking new year, I’m a bit loathe to merrily set off on the wrong foot, but given that these photos took up my designated blogging creative time, I’m afraid that’s all I’ve got! Maybe this is the perfect spot to insert a quickie poll.
